Apertum’s Key Role in Avalanche Subnet Growth

Apertum, a blockchain platform within the Avalanche network, is receiving significant attention for its role in advancing subnet development and activity. Soon after, Apertum received the “General Blockchain” designation within the Avalanche ecosystem, a status that suggests versatile usage and an expanding role in the network’s design[2].

Recent changes within Avalanche follow the introduction of the Etna/Avalanche 9000 upgrade. As a result, the community has clarified the distinction between “subnets” and Avalanche layer-1 (L1) networks. Previously, these terms were sometimes used interchangeably. The updated approach now identifies subnets as separate from L1s, a move that may lead projects to consider shifting their infrastructure to enhance security, independence, and customization through 2025[3].
